Got Questions?

the brand I already buy uses "compostable" bags. What's wrong with those?

Well, it's not so much about it being wrong, just not enough. PLA and other bioplastics innovations are great, and while they're moving fast, they're not necessarily aligned with our current waste management pipelines. Most bioplastics are not compatible with the current infrastructure and sorting our city has. Thus, they unfortunately end up piling up on our landfills like regular waste.

Why SWAP?

The average coffee bag leaves behind at least 25g of multilayer plastic waste. And the average big chain grocery store in LA replenishes their shelfs with 200-600 coffee bags weekly. That's anywhere from 11 to 33 lbs of permanent landfill trash every week.

What if I don't want to SWAP

The SWAP is totally optional. After all, Our eco-pouch refills are designed to be zero-waste. Plus, we think they're pretty cool!

Is your packaging actually zero-waste?

Our eco-pouches are 100% recyclable and compostable. No plastic, no chemicals, just wood pulp with FSC certification, and corn starch for the adhesive.

How long can I leave my beans in the eco-pouch?

Our eco-pouches are designed to keep our coffee fresh during delivery but they're envisioned as Re-Fill bags, not long term storage packaging. Under average LA humidity, stored in a cool shelf they can keep coffee up to 2 weeks at their peak. But when possible, we recommend storing them in an airtight container upon receipt.

What container should I use?

Any clean, airtight container, jar, or repurposed tin you already own. Preferable something opaque to prevent UV exposure of the beans, since oxygen, moisture, and light are the principal perps in degrading coffee.

What if I'm not home?

No problem. As long as your empty container is at your drop spot, we handle the exchange without you needing to be there. You'll get a confirmation photo so you know it's there.

Can I pause, skip, or change my order?

Yes to all three. Log in to your account and make changes anytime before Roast Day, currently Wednesdays. Swap or add beans, adjust your quantity, and frequency, or skip up to a month if you need to.

Where does your coffee come from?

We source directly from the farmers we work with, cutting out the middleman so more money reaches the farm and our beans never sit in a warehouse going stale. Everything ships straight from origin to us.

How do you roast?

We roast small batches in an electric Induction-heated solid drum roaster. Every curve tracked with specialized software to guarantee optimal development and profile.
We customize each recipe to serve the bean's origin. Honoring it's own story on every batch.

Roast-to-order means nothing sits around. What we roast Wednesday is at your door that same week.

Is your coffee organic?

We try to to keep at least one Bird-Friendly certified option in our rotation at all times. These are are USDA Organic certified by default.
